Stars on Demand

Finally arrived at Stanley Lake in Stanley, ID. Drive in was great. Winding roads through rolling mountains with white water rapids along much of the route. Saw a number of deer, one mink and possibly an elk. The elk could have been a tree… Stanley Lake is right at the base of the mountains and we didn’t think we’d find any sites along the campgrounds surrounding the lake but we lucked out big time. Stumbled upon Lakeview Campground off of road 550, 3.5 miles off of route 21. The last vacant site was ours! Since we are on the western edge of the Mountain Time Zone, we managed to set up our tents under the last gasp of light…at 10:45pm! The stars here are quite impressive…better than any I’ve seen. So many! Its like a blanket of snow cascaded across a black back drop…unreal.

We placed our potent laundry bags in a strategic 10ft radius around our tents to protect us from wildlife.

Sleep.

This is so exciting. I feel like I'm on vacation - except for the smelly clothes!
