7-13-08 Ridge Line

Slept in till about 9:00am. Good night sleep. Ate a stale pop tart, stale raison bagel and questionable yogurt for breakfast. Washed them down with some warm spring water.

Headed up to Mt Helena for a ride. Not familiar with area at all and have no guide books but did hear about it through word of mouth. Decent ride. Lots of glass at bottom and tough climb to start. We were pretty tired in the beginning. Met some nice people at the tough. They said we were crazy for doing the climb on our bikes. Truth be told we walked the last 100 ft of elevation gain. Hooked a u-turn and road the ridge line for a bit for some great views.

For being a capital city, Helena is not much of a city. Pretty small. No real tall buildings. Kind of disorganized…weird zoning.

Passing by Salmon Lake in the middle of Montana. Really nice scenery. Deep blue water and mountainous green at its perimeter. Kiddies doing some tubing.

I just made Chad pull a U-turn on a highway 83 so I could take a picture of horses…Chad soon made it known that if we missed a camping site by 2 minutes I would be sleeping outside with all my luggage on the side of the road…BUT take a look at the pic!

Entering Glacier National Park. Decided to skip touristy activity in search of campground. Found a nice spot at Avalanche Campground.
