Fisher Creek Trail - Stanley, Idaho

After our gig on the Salmon River, we headed down the road to Fisher Creek Trail…a local favorite. “You cannot leave until you do Fisher Creek.” hmm, we’ll see. Loop trail, long fire road climb up to 8100ft. This part of the trail was located in the burn area of the 2005 forest fires. Climb was long, but gradual until the end where it turned very steep. Towards the top we were feeling the effects of altitude for the first time. The trail was a freaky unique mix of wild flowers, burned trees, and tons of butterflies. Now for the downhill… Packed dirt, dust, and ash as we swooped through a maze of charred telephone pole-like spires…Mars rover trekking over a new world like……Mars.

Just when we thought is was over…small uphill…then bam!...unexpected speed barreling through what is now a healthy forest. 17.8 miles later we hit the knight rider mini van for a pair of beers. Definitely lived up to the hype.

GREAT SITE!!!!
I did this same trail with a longtime friend on June 23, 2010. Everyone of your photos takes me back to that precise location and time. Thanks!
